In addition to creating original one of a kind painted furniture, The Wood Orphan's Design has also collaborated with local author Mary Moodey (Marmooworks.com) in creating children's books illustrated on children's furniture.  It was the belief by both collaborators that books can be brought to life on furniture.   The first collaborative project was Christopher Counts the Constellations.  The text, the illustrations  and this artist's vision of the story was painted on a child's rocking horse with an additional follow up piece created on a child's desk.  The rocking horse is part of author  Mary Moodey's "Christopher Counts the Constellations" presentation/project currently on display  at the Innovation Erie at the Erie Art Museum. 

Ms. Moodey is one of four finalists. ​

 

The Rocking horse is painted in vibrant acrylics with a glossy finish.  In addition to the text of the story of Christopher the rocking horse has constellations, planets, mythical figures relevant to the story  and lots and lots of stars.  your child can close his eyes and imagine imagine riding Pegasus off into the stars.

The rocking horse comes with an autographed copy of Mary Moodey's wonderful tale of "Christopher Counts the Constellations."
